The highlight of the event was having 8 of the children we have treated on stage with Scott Piper singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’. Scott is an incredible tenor who volunteered his time and talent at this year’s event, and the Foundation and the children are very grateful to him.

The mission of Los Cabos Children’s Foundation is to provide medical, educational and humanitarian assistance to the children, their families and supportive organizations of the Los Cabos area, and the money raised at Amy and Vince’s Fred Duckett Challende will be used for three purposes:
- Help fund other local organizations who help children. These organizations include Amigos de los Ninos, Mobilize Mankind, LigaMac, Red Autismo, San Juan Diego Center, Sarahuaro, YES.
- Supply funding for the Santa Josefina Community Blood Bank, the only Community Blood Bank in Los Cabos.
- Help fund cancer treatment for many of the children diagnosed with Cancer in BCS. The children are treated in Culiacan through our affiliation with St. Jude, in Obregon, Sonora through social security system and the United States at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. BCS is the only state in Mexico that does not currently have cancer treatment for children.

The goal of LCCF is to build a children’s cancer treatment facility in Los Cabos. Land has been donated for this purpose by Cabo Real and Grupo Questro. The site is located in Cabo Real and will become the LCCF Children’s Medical Campus.
It is very difficult for families with a child who has a cancer to receive treatment away from home. Not only is this a trying time, but the families have to separate for a time. When your child has cancer, the last thing you want to do is be away from home. The goal of Los Cabos Children’s Foundation is to help children receive the treatment they need at home, here in Baja California Sur.
ESCAPES magazine is endorsing and will be following up with Los Cabos Children’s Foundation and their endeavors in building a Children’s Medical Campus in Baja Sur. We’ll notify you on progress and development of the Campus.
