It is my pleasure to announce the new issue of ESCAPES magazine! In ESCAPES #6, September 2010 – January 2011, we feature the story of Mexico’s history and heroes, talk about Mexican wedding traditions and show truly amazing wedding photography by Francisco Estrada and Photoamore and pick our favorite Baja California Sur hotels as a suggestion for Your perfect honeymoon. In the continuation we tell the story about corn with more than 7,000 years history, we showcase an award winning and beautiful ecological home at the East Cape, Casa Shelly. We feature our regular architecture’s column by Mariano Arias Diez, from a10 studio, and a real estate column by Leticia Diaz Rivera, broker of Coldwell Banker Riveras and the developer of Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. Pictures say more than words. I would like to share with you some moments from our photo shooting of the cover photo. The shooting took place in early hours at the beach of Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas. The cover wouldn’t be possible without this great team: photographer Francisco Estrada, PhotoMexico; Betzabe Millan, Sandra Reyna and team at Mar adentro, who did the creative concept and make up; creative clothing artist and stylist Pepita from The Magic of the Moon and Pepita. We borrowed the hat from Tropica Calypso, Beautiful jewlery was provided by Marquina Art & Jewelry, flowers arranged by The Flower Cart, and food was prepared by Baja Cantina and their executive chef Silviano Orozco.

New issue of ESCAPES magazine is out. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it and seeing it coming to life.

While first issue was more historical, new issue is devoted to Mexican culture and Baja’s social responsibility activities. Every day there is a fiesta in Mexico! That was my first impression about Mexican lifestyle after moving to Baja Sur in November 2007. And even though there are around 6,000 festivities in whole Mexico throughout the year, September introduces us to the most festive season. Rich culture and colorful traditions, with rituals and ceremonies that never fail to amaze, are inviting us to join with family and friends to celebrate. Accompanied by plentiful of activities offered by nature, entertainment and social responsibility events, I will use the coming festive season to remind myself to cherish every single day and every precious moment that takes my breath away.

I would like to invite you to capture precious moments of your escapes in Baja and send them to our Photo Contest (see page 41). Top ten photographs will be awarded and toured around Baja Sur.

In Grupo Riveras we are celebrating July 4 2008 as the birthday of a new magazine in Baja California Sur. ESCAPES is a magazine about all those places, moments, events, happenings, projects, things, and so much more, which make us happy to live in Baja.

Evey 4 months ESCAPES will share with you new interesting escapes in Baja. The first issue is a HISTORICAL issue. Not just because we are talking about the history of the Diaz Rivera family, the founders of luxury real estate in Baja Calilfornia Sur. We are presenting Joanie Feinstein, internationally acknowledged real estate professional who came in Cabo 27 years ago, when San Jose international airport was still a tent.
